The Art Gallery of Calgary (AGC) is committed to respecting the personal privacy of our website visitors. The AGC is committed to managing and safeguarding personal information entrusted to us in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act, which came into effect January 1, 2004.

Scope
This policy applies to the AGC’s website only. The AGC is not responsible in any way for the privacy practices of other websites that may be linked to our website.

Personal Information
The AGC does not collect personally identifying information, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and the like, except when voluntarily submitted by website visitors.

When you visit the AGC just to browse, we may compile aggregate statistics to enhance our website design. This information cannot be personally identified with a specific individual, and helps us learn about the numbers of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use.

AGC Privacy Practices

Collection of Personal Information
The AGC does not automatically gather your personal information, and you can anonymously access our website. Personal information is only obtained if you supply it voluntarily while using our website (for example, contacting us via e-mail or registering for our e-newsletter).

The AGC uses personal information in a limited number of ways, which may include: providing a tax receipt and/or a thank you letter for a charitable donation; sending you information about upcoming exhibitions and events at the AGC; sending you our monthly e-newsletter; contacting you for fundraising purposes; or in response to your questions or comments.

From time to time, the AGC may consider using your contact information to inform you of special events or AGC services. In situations where we are proposing to use information you have given us for another business purpose, we will inform you and give you the opportunity to indicate that you do not wish your information to be used in that way. For example, if you enter a contest, we may ask if we can send you information about upcoming exhibitions and programs or for other identified purposes. You will have the option of declining permission to do so.

Safeguarding and Disposal of Personal Information
The AGC does not sell or share our mailing lists. We make every reasonable effort to prevent any loss, misuse, or disclosure of personal information, as well as any unauthorized access to personal information. We use appropriate security measures when storing or destroying personal information in either paper or electronic formats.

We retain personal information only as long as is reasonable to fulfill the purposes for which the information was collected, or for legal, business or statistical purposes. When you give us your credit card number to make a payment by mail or telephone, your credit card information is not kept permanently on file.

Children
Children should use the AGC website with the approval of a parent or guardian. Where appropriate, the AGC will specifically instruct children not to submit personal information on our website.
