ARTwear 2008
On Thursday, November 13, 2008, The Art Gallery of Calgary hosted its sixth annual Fall fashion show, ARTwear 2008. ARTwear 2008, made possible by the generous support of presenting sponsor, The Owen Hart Foundation, was an exceptional experience celebrating the natural pairing of contemporary art and fashion.
This high-energy evening features a runway show highlighting the season’s must-have fashions for men and women from some of Calgary’s hottest boutiques. Due to enormous interest in this fundraising event, ARTwear 2008 was held in the new ballroom at Hotel Arts.
The evening also features a Fashion Trunk Show Auction where guests have an opportunity to bid on one-of-a kind styles and a Silent Auction composed of items donated by local businesses. Guests were treated to hors d’oeuvres by Chef Duncan Ly and his team (AGCcooks 2007 and 2008 Award winners) and fine wines chosen by raw bar’s resident sommelier.
The fashion show featured some of Calgary’s finest clothing and accessories, in addition to the latest hair and makeup trends. The show was coordinated by Calgary’s own fashion maven Marie-Lousie (Lu) Kapp, a style consultant with over 20 years in the industry.
VIP tickets included a cocktail reception at The Art Gallery of Calgary, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, a Wearable Art Fashion Show by the locally renowned and well-loved Dee Fontans, complimentary transportation to Hotel Arts and preferred seating for the event.
Funds from ARTwear go towards The Art Gallery of Calgary’s hands-on curriculum-based art education programs for school groups from Kindergarten to grade 12.
